German-Argentine composer Mauricio Kagel was born this day in 1931. He was active in Cologne from the mid-1950s.

The November 29 HCA event was such a success that an encore presentation will be offered on Tuesday, December 6. Film begins at 6:30 pm, music at 6.

On December 3, 1964 after a non-violent campaign for free speech on campus, 800 students were arrested at UC Berkeley. The more things change....

The Nevada County chapter Health Care for All California hosts a film and town hall forum event on Tuesday, November 29th at the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Music begins at 6 pm, with the film at 7 pm. Admission is free.

Kara Walker was born in Stockton, California on November 26, 1969. She studied at the Atlanta College of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design. She received a McArthur genius grant in her mid-20s. Her work, including her well-known cut-paper silhouettes, examines race, gender, history and sexuality through Southern and African-American folklore.
